Effective: 12 August 2026
The Celeste app and website (“the Service”) are operated by Celeste International School (“the School”) to connect the School with the parents and guardians of its students and with School staff. This policy explains what information the Service handles and how it is protected.
Information we collect
- Parent / guardian details — name and mobile phone number, used to create your account and deliver School communications.
- Student records — name, class and section, attendance, homework / learning records and related School information, entered and maintained by the School.
- Photos and updates — class photos and updates shared by School staff through the app’s Class Story.
- Support messages — queries and replies you exchange with the School through the app.
- Device notification token — if you enable notifications, a push token (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) is stored so the School can send you app notifications. It is removed when you sign out.
- Fee payment records — what was paid, when, for which student and against which fees, the receipt number, and the reference the bank or payment gateway returns. See Paying fees online below.
How information is used
Data is used solely to operate the School’s communication and administration: delivering homework, announcements, attendance alerts, fee information, class photos and support replies to the right families. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
Notifications
The School may reach you over WhatsApp (through our messaging provider) and/or app push notifications (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging), per the School’s settings. You can disable app notifications at any time in your device settings.
Paying fees online
Fees are paid on the payment gateway’s own secure page, not on ours. Card numbers, CVV, UPI PINs, net-banking passwords and one-time passwords are never seen by, sent to or stored on the School’s systems. You enter them with the gateway, which is regulated for that purpose.
The School uses Razorpay as its payment gateway. To take a payment we send Razorpay the amount, an internal reference for the student, and the contact details needed to raise the payment. What comes back and is kept by the School is the record of the transaction: the amount, the date, the receipt number, whether it succeeded or failed and why, and the gateway’s own order and payment references.
Those gateway records may also contain the payment method used and a partial, masked identifier of it — for example the last four digits of a card, a UPI ID, or the bank chosen — together with the email address or phone number you gave the gateway. This is kept so that a payment can be traced, a receipt reissued, and a query from you answered. It is never used for anything else.
Fee and receipt records are financial records of the School and are retained for as long as the law requires, which is longer than the retention described below for messages and notifications.
Children’s information
The Service is used by parents, guardians and School staff — not operated by children. Student records are visible only to that student’s own guardians and authorised School staff, never to other families.
Storage, sharing and security
- Data is stored with our cloud hosting providers (database and secure file storage for photos and documents).
- Limited data is shared with service providers only to deliver the Service: our WhatsApp messaging provider (message delivery), Google Firebase (push notifications) and Razorpay (fee payments, where you choose to pay online).
- Access is role-based and authenticated; production traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Retention and your choices
Records are retained while the student is enrolled and your account is active, and afterwards only as required for the School’s legitimate record-keeping. To review, correct or request deletion of your information, contact the School office.
